Because I'm a nerd, I made a graph comparing the damage done by the T3 Assault Beam and the T3 Sensitive Beam as the enemy's resistance varies. It shows that Sensitive Beam is better if the enemy's resistance is 30 or less, but standard beam is better if resistance is above 30. That is risky indeed!

That means that you would need to go back in the chapters to discover lower level aliens
E.g. if you have T5 beam but cannot unlock, then you need to run chapter 6 for aliens to get the T4 etc
