Research is an extremely important feature that allows the player to gain new types of weapons, armor, engines, and special devices. You can gain alien tech that is much better weapons and better special devices then you can normally research. As of the 2.3.1 update on May 27, 2016 you may use Hyper Research which is unlocked at level 100. It can be used to unlock the Hyper Destroyer, Hyper Cruiser, Hyper Battleship, and Hyper Mothership which cost much more than their normal counterpart.
