You can choose one of nine formations which are very characteristic. For example, the default formation, Single Line Formation, gives you +10% attack damage for every weapons. Or the Double Repression Formation, which gives you 15% attack damage for both fighters and missiles.
There are also Advanced Formations. Unlocking after finishing either the last formation of either two routes, you can get the Adv. Single Line Formation, all formations are the same with the exception of increased effectivity and have secondary perks. Plus, Adv. formations are colored green.
